This
2010-2011 Annual Statistical Abstract which reflect the dedicated
efforts to provide a comprehensive package of data and information
covering the various aspects of economic and social life in Iraq.
This document has significant importance for development policies and
programme that is supposed to formulated and applied to all levels of
development , as sound statistical information form the basis of logical
and rational decision - making process , policy - making and sectoral .
So , it is not possible to dispense with this information at the moment
to decision - making process at all levels ; At the State level ,
private enterprises or research centers and all activities that closely
connected with public and private affaairs.
Annual Statistical Abstract for the years2010-2011 has been published
under the new conditions in Iraq and after American forces retreat
which characterised by collective efforts to build democracy and
institutions aiming at creating legal environment based on transparency,
accountability and constructive dialogue. These principles, that need to
be universalized, translated and applied in real life, would not be well
established in the society if not built on authentic and accurate data
and information.
This Abstract is divided into chapters and sections covering Phisycal
Features, Statistics of Population and Labour Force , Agriculture ,
Industry , Building and Construction , National Accounts and Fixed
Capital Formation , Internal and Foreign Trade , Transport and
Communication , Education , Health , Oil and Culture and Index numbers
and Human development which is including statistical efforts in
achieving Milliennium development goals. Some information have further
classified as economic activities: public, private, mixed and
Cooperative sectors in order to highlight the individual contribution of
these sectors in the production process , In addition to invent a new
section Human Rights indcators stemming from Iragis sufferance of
violations in human rights in the past .
We are proud of this achievements which is important to appreciate the
large efforts and precious to all who contributed in the comletion .
This document is a feature of the experience to establish a new
development in the country on the basis of modernity and to benefit from
the fruits of scientific and technical development in the stormy world
and serve our legitimate aspiration to build a new future in Iraq . We
hope that this publication meets the need of all relevant in process
development .
