courses for implementing pilot census at end of May…
Will be implemented by (1468) teachers in six Governorates
In preparation of conducting the pilot census which will be implemented by the
Central Organization for Statistics of Ministry of Planning and Development
Cooperation at the end of the current May in six governorates, Baghdad, Thi-Qar,
Najaf, Diala, Nineveh and Sulaimaniya. (1468) teachers are joined training
courses that will be lasted for ten days in all governorates.
An official source in COSIT reported that the participants in this course are
going to carry out field work for the pilot Census in its two phases listing,
numbering and enumeration of the population in the covered governorates. They
will receive lectures on how to use air maps and how to fill in a listing form
of buildings, houses, establishments and agricultural holdings as well as how to
fill a form of enumerating population.
The source added that (25) training centers have been rehabilitated in eighteen
governorates and ranged between 1-3 centers in each governorate to receive the
trainees. The central Supervisors and local supervisors with their staffs, whom
trained for a period of fifteen days in Baghdad, will carry out the training
course process... He indicated that all required necessities had been provided
such as equipment, supplies, stationery and illustrative maps as well as to
provide required means of transport for the transfer of the trainees from their
homes areas to the training centers and vice versa.
COSIT will conduct the general population census in 24th of next
October, which is the first census will be carried out in Iraq including
Kurdistan region... The scanner will be used in the data entry process, also
will be used of geographic information systems in the process of limitation
administrative units in all the governorates.
