The Supreme General Committee of Population Census held its third Meeting

The supreme committee of population and housing census in Iraq for the year of 2009 held its third meeting in the presence of all its membership from the under secretaries of ministries, representatives of Kurdistan region and of the relevant authorities on Wednesday, February 04, 2009.

At the beginning of the meeting, his Excellency the Minister of Planning and Development Cooperation Mr. Ali Ghaleb Baban, the head of supreme committee of the census, is speaking about the importance of data that provided by the general population census, and pointed out that “in every day pass and in every occasion” show the need for such data, perhaps the provincial elections which recently taken place in Iraq, drew attention to the need and importance of the implementation of a regular population census.
 
And His Excellency the Minister stressed, that Iraqi state today is in urgent need for these data and the government can not implement any important activity and strategic project, if the major data base has not been provided, which no doubt will be supplied by the census.
 
The minister called the supreme committee for the need of focusing on” through the informational media for the census”, that the purpose of the census is developmental in the service of the citizen at the first-class.
 
Dr. Mahdi Al Alak the Chairman of the Central Organization for Statistics and the head of the Operations Census Chamber, on his part, clarify that supreme committee of the census has been completed in its final form and the various work sectors were nominated which their tasks were entrusted to the public managers in the Ministry of Planning, the Central Organization for Statistics and other Ministries. Dr.Al Alak also praise highly to the considerable support providing by the United Nations Fund for Population Activities about the project of population census, in addition to the continuing program of cooperation with the Arab Republic of Egypt, which is follow according to plan has been put for this purpose.
 
On her part, Executive Director of the Census Nuha Yousif Khuder spoke about the general plan of census, which obtain the approval and gratification of the international experts as a comprehensive plan, who is referring to the ongoing work to extract the official form of census at the final shape to meet the necessities of all the details and comments that is receiving about it.

The meeting was attended a presentation about the activities of various work sectors has been presented by the administrators of these sectors, respectively; It was also presented details of the informational media plan of the census which the attendance gave their observations about it... The meeting included a discussion and introduces a lot of issues relating to the implementation of the general census of population and housing in Iraq, which will hopefully be implemented during the next month of October.
