Industries Index rose by
(6.3%) for the year 2007
Central Organization for Statistics and Information Technology in the Ministry
of Planning and Development Cooperation achieves the index number report of
manufacturing industries production quantity for the year 2007, which is one of
the important statistical measures leads to follow up production volume and know
its trends to estimate indicators of national accounts at constant prices.
The publication and public relations directorate in the Central Organization for
Statistics and Information Technology declare in press release... The report
included an indicator shows that the general index of industrial production
quantity has reached (42.5 percent) in 2007, to record an increase at rate about
(6.3 percent) compare with the index of 2006 that amounted (40.0 %).
The statement clarify, that the reason for index rise due to increase indices of
both food industry, which had risen at rate about (5.2 percent) and industry of
carbonated beverages and Tobacco rose by (16.2 percent), industry of textile,
clothes and footwear increased by rate about (3.9 %), wood and paper industry
and products increased by (8.2 percent) while the chemical industry and oil
index number rose by ( 6.9 percent), the nonmetallic industries witnessed
increase of rate about(6.8 percent), and other manufacturing industries had been
rose by (5.8 percent).
The press release reveal, that goods basket covered by index number of
production quantity in the manufacturing industries have been selected relying
on the same commodity of index number for input and output of the manufacturing
industry, So (195) industrial products have been selected according to the value
of each product within each sub-industry, where the contribution of those
selected units within each sub-industry more than (80 percent) from total value
of gross sub-industry
