Gross
Domestic Product value in Iraq for the year 2007 reached (107828.5) billion
dinars at current prices and (48.0) billion dinars at constant prices, While
value of GDP for the first quarter of 2008 is (37044.2) billion dinars at
current prices, compared with (13.4) billion dinars at constant prices.

This was
stated in a press release published by the directorate of publication and
public relations in the Central Organization for Statistics and Information
Technology of Ministry of Planning and Development Cooperation. The
statement clarify that GDP of 2007 was distributed at (20586.7) billion
dinars at current prices compared with (10.6) billion dinars at constant
prices for the first quarter of the year and (25729.1) billion dinars at
current prices compared with (12.4) billion dinars at constant prices in the
second quarter. While the value of gross domestic product for third quarter
of 2007 reached (27746.4) billion dinars at current prices compared with
(12.0) billion dinars at constant prices. While the value of fourth quarter
is (33766.3) billion dinars at current prices and (13.0) billion dinars at
constant prices.

The press
release added, that GDP is the production value from final goods and
services achieved during the year, GDP considers an important indicator for
measuring the efficiency of economic performance. The development of this
product reflects positively on the growth of income, which in turn leads to
improved social welfare of the individual.

The press release stated, that the Central organization for
Statistics and Information Technology relied in the preparation of quarterly
estimates of GDP on the available data provided by the Ministry of Oil
concerning with oil quantities that produced, exported and supplied to
refineries and electricity, in addition to the industrial census data of
large-scale industrial establishments, expenditures of current budget in the
calculation of government activity and the Economic and Social Survey of
Iraqi household that had been achieved during 2007 about the activity of
dwellings ownership, activity of personal services and electrical activity
of private sector.
While other economic
activities have been depended on the extent of their relative importance.

In the
other hand, the directorate of publication and public relations in COSIT
mentioned that, the value of national income in current prices for the year
2006 reached (85431.5) billion dinars, the average of per capita was
(2926339.0) dinars, while the value of GDP in current prices for the same
year (2006) amounted (95588.0) billion dinars, the per capita was
(3274233.0) dinars and the value of GDP at constant prices reached (47.8)
billion dinars in 2006.

The
Central Organization for Statistics and Information Technology also
completed report of gross fixed capital formation of 2006 which aims to
offer indications about the size of investment in public and private
sectors.

The statement of publication and public relations directorate
mentioned that the report included indicators of gross fixed capital
formation of public and private sectors and by type of asset that includes:
(residential buildings - non-residential buildings – other constructions -
machinery and equipment - furniture - transportation - plants and animals -
other assets), so the gross fixed capital formation reached (16282.9)
billion dinars at current prices, while at constant prices reached (17)
billion dinars . Whereas the gross formation in commodity activities reached
(10725.5) billion dinars at rate of (65.9%) from gross fixed capital
formation at current prices followed by service activities that its value
reached (4217.5) billion dinars at rate of (25.9%), then distributive
activities reached ( 1339.9) billion dinars at rate of (8.2%).
