Press release for Minister of Planning
       International contribution to Iraq passes its worst stages now
   

Minister of Planning and Development Cooperation Mr. Ali Ghalib Baban, Called the Iraqi citizens to cooperate with the cadres of the ministry that would implement the General Census of Population and Housing in Iraq in the last quarter of 2009.

Mr. Baban indicates in press statements that his ministry is to rely greatly on this census, who considered it as national merit so will mobilize all available capabilities in the ministry and other assistant ministries for the success of this mission where its large part of the responsibility on the Central Organization for Statistics and Information Technology ... He pointed out that this census will be different in terms of quality and type from previous censuses carried out in Iraq, In addition to coverage of all governorates and Kurdistan region in Iraq, it’s reflect the reality, true and the accurate demographic situation in the country, Which is assistance to build a large information base would help plans and decision makers to develop the comprehensive development policies to promote the country in all aspects of life, therefore, the results of the census will serve primarily the Iraqi citizen. Then he indicates about the using of scanner for the first time in data entry which will lead to the rapid knowledge of census data... The ministry is working day and night for the success of this great national project.

Regarding the role of the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control, Minister of Planning pointed out that the effectiveness of this system are connected with the effective systems and laws also spreading of control culture in the society when this system has been infected in disorder, it will reflect negatively on the performance of quality control. He hoped that the year of 2009 is witnessing serious activation of this role to protect the Iraqi market which is dumped with goods and various commodities without controller.

On the other hand Mr. Baban revealed that international contributions and grants for Iraq that adopted at Madrid conference of donor countries in 2004 reached its lowest level after pervading a lot of corruption and wasting.
 
And about the difficulties facing the work of the Ministry of Planning, The minister said that the planning work in Iraq is surrounded by many difficulties and obstacles where comes in front of it as a state that we have not adequate strategy and clear vision for the comprehensive development paths and If we are possessed it theoretically we would not able to transfer it to obligatory implementation decision,  therefore, it’s required from all of us to clearly define our objectives and this requires a great deal of effort at all levels and positions, Stressing on the role of free media in creating awareness and culture planning in the community and the ministry has pursuit to deal with the media as a vital and important part of its present and future mission.
