 Results of Public Opinion Survey for Ration Card

Central Organization for Statistics and Information Technology  


 
 Within framework of activities of the Central Organization for Statistics and Information Technology/ in the Ministry of Planning and Development Cooperation is follow-up the various issues related to daily lives of citizens, in order to determine the performance level of implementation the ration-card system in terms of quality of distributed materials and timing of supply. Field Cadres of COSIT have been carried out Public Opinion Survey included (458) distribution agents of the ration who are provided (120) thousands households in fifteen governorates. The survey lasted for ten days in spite of the negative aspects that is recorded, but the households still believes that the ration system is the secure way to ensure its food security.


The survey showed the following results:

  1. The rate of households that were delayed in the receipt of flour item for only one month reached (54.6%), while the rate of households that were non-receipt the same item over the period of (4-6) months was (9%) from total households covered by the survey, against (35 %) were non-receipt the same item in (2-3) months, while the rice item results show that (32.6%) of the households did not receive this item within one month, while the rate of households that non-receipt the same item in (2-3) months about ( 47.7%) and the rate of (2.2%) of the households did not receive this item for the period of last thirteen months.
  2. The rate of households that were delayed in receiving the sugar item for only one month reached (36.6%), while the rate of households that were non-receipt of the same item for a period of (4-6) months reached (5.6%) of all households that have been covered by the survey compared with (32% ) of households registered non-receipt of the same item for a period of (2-3) months and the rate of (11%) did not receive this item for a period ranging from seven months to one year and (14%) of households did not receive this item for period of (13) months or more. While the item of (cooking oil or fat), there are about (36%) of the households had not received this item for one month... The rate of households that did not receive cooking oil for a period of two to three months (49.6%).
  3. The rate of households that did not receive the item of legumes for (4-6) months reach(11.7%), while the rate of households that have not received this item for a period of seven months to one year reached (62%) from the total covered households against a rate of (21.6%) recorded non-receipt of the same item for more than thirteen months. While the tea item, there is a rate about (53%) of the households were not received this item for period more than seven months or a year, and a rate of (21.6%) of the households had not received this item for more than (13) months.
  4. The rate of households that did not receive all items of the ration for one month was(14.5%) and (22%) did not receive these items for a period of (2-3) months and(14.5%) did not receive these items for a period of (4-6) months and there are (31.5%) of the households did not receive ration card’s items over the period of seven months to one year, while (18%) did not receive the items for a period of (13) months or longer.
  5. While on the level of quality of items received by the citizens the results of the survey demonstrated that (12%) of poor households mentioned that low level of flour item received in last against (50%) of the households showed that the quality of flour is medium but (38%) have shown that the quality was good. while the rice item, there are (15%) of households indicated that the quality was low level and (43%) of households mentioned that quality was medium compared with (41%) of households said that received rice at a good quality.. About sugar item, showed (83%) of the households that its quality was good against (14%) of the households showed that the quality was medium and only (3%) said that quality of sugar was low level. The tea item came in the first of low quality at rate about ((72%) of the households compared to (22%) of households showed that the quality of medium level while (6%) of households said that the quality was good. The rate of households showed that items of last received ration in general was law level of quality about (16%), and (45%) of households confirmed that the received items was at medium-quality against (29%) of the households showed that the quality was good.
