United Nations Population Fund organizes
a workshop to analyze the Iraq youth and Adolescence survey results
In
cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Planning and
Development Cooperation / Central Organization for Statistics and Information
Technology and the Ministry of Sports and Youth in the Kurdistan region, and in
association with the League of Arab States, the United Nations Population Fund
has organized a specialized workshop in Amman, 21-22 October 2009 to discuss
the results of the youth and adolescence
survey. The survey has been conducted by the Ministry of
Youth and Sports and the COSIT, with the support of the United Nations
Population Fund and Family Health Project of the Arab League.
The
workshop was attended by representatives of the United Nations Population Fund,
in addition to researchers and specialists from Iraqi universities, American
University of Beirut, and a number of regional experts and the Iraqi experts who
designed and implemented the survey.
The
workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Abbas Kadhim, Deputy Minister of Youth and
Sports ,Dr. Mehdi Al-Alaq Deputy Minister of Planning and Development
Cooperation, and Dr. George Georgey, representative of
the United Nations Population Fund / Iraq Office. The importance of the survey
has been focused on, and the significance of the subjects addressed by the
survey for the development of the actuality of Iraqi youth to take advantage of
them as a great human wealth in Iraq; particularly concerning the social and
economic aspects, issues of identity and belonging, science, culture and needs
of youth as a part of social, security and health issues.
The workshop lasts for two days during which the report of initial results will
be discussed, and the main features of the statistical report will be determined
in addition to the primary axes of the deeply planned for researches which are
expected to be performed during the next six months.
Experts, scholars, and specialists will debate. And
at the end of workshop, the research teams, which will implement the research
studies, will be identified.
